Happy 100th Day of School

We had a blast today. It was so fun to dress up and see all the students dressed like they were 100 years old. We started the morning by making a 100th Day Book Mark and writing our numbers to 100. During Daily 5, students wrote about what they would do with $100! It was interesting to see what students think $100 will buy. We then made predictions and had to determine if we thought we could get to the center of a Tootsie Pop in more or less than 100 licks. We kept track by tallying our licks. WOW! This activity was so much fun. I loved hearing all the students count and lick at the same time! After 300 licks most students gave up and decided to bite into the sucker! During Writer's Workshop, the students wrote about they will be doing when they are 100 years old. These were also fun to read. Students selected their favorite story from the 100th day and that one will be hanging in the hallway. At math, students had to find 100 Hershey Kisses hidden around the room. Once they were all found they had to figure out how to divide them equally between all 20 students. We ended the day making our 100th Day Trail Mix. Thank you to all the students who donated items to make this special for the students. It was a BLAST!
